Provence in the Nutshell- climate and cuisine

Provence has mostly Mediterranean climate that is characterised by hot, dry summers, mild winters, little snow and constant sunshine. However, the mistral, a cold, dry wind, which may reach over one hundred kilometres an hour, causes that people are cold even in summer.
There is information about the origin of mistral on the page What is the Mistral?

I had an opportunity to experience the force of mistral in summer in 2015.

The cuisine of Provence is the result of the climate.  The ingredients of food are olives, olive oil, garlic, seafood (octopus, rockfish, sardines, sea urchins), lamb and goat, chickpeas and fruit (melons, grapes, peaches, apricots, cherries, strawberries).

In Provence I ate various delicious fish soup but I have not tried famous bouillabaisse, the classic seafood dish of Marseille as it cost more than 20 euros. I hope I will taste it one day.
